A Legacy of Excellence

Sportsklubben Brann, founded in 1908, is one of Norway’s most iconic football clubs. Known as "Bergens stolthet" (The Pride of Bergen), the club has a rich history of success, including three league championships, seven Norwegian Cups, and memorable European campaigns. Both the men’s and women’s teams play their matches at the historic Brann Stadion, which has become a fortress for the club and a hub for their passionate fanbase.

In recent years, Brann has achieved record-breaking ticket sales and established itself as a force in European football. The women’s team reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2023/24 season, where they faced Barcelona, while the men’s team this season are part of the UEFA Europa League where they delivered an unforgettable 3-0 home victory against Rangers recently. These achievements underscore Brann’s ability to compete at the highest levels of international football.

The Challenge: Meeting the Demands of a Growing Club

As SK Brann’s popularity and success have grown, so too have the demands on their ticketing and operational systems. The club needed a solution that could:

  • Handle high volumes of ticket sales for both men’s and women’s matches.
  • Provide a seamless fan experience, from ticket purchase to matchday.
  • Offer data-driven insights to support marketing and operational strategies.
  • Adapt to the unique needs of a club competing at the highest levels of domestic and European football.

Therese Rygg, Head of Commercial at SK Brann, explains:
"Our goal has always been to fill the stadium, not just for the big matches but for every game. To achieve this, we need a ticketing system that is not only efficient but also flexible enough to meet the needs of our fans. TicketCo has been instrumental in helping us achieve this."

The Solution: A Collaborative Partnership with TicketCo

The partnership between SK Brann and TicketCo began in 2017, marking the start of a transformative journey for both organisations. Brann’s early adoption of TicketCo’s platform provided invaluable insights that helped shape the solutions now used by clubs across Norway. This collaboration laid the foundation for TicketCo’s league-wide agreement with Norsk Toppfotball in 2019, which unified ticketing across Norway’s professional football leagues.

Therese Rygg highlights the importance of this collaboration:
"What makes our partnership with TicketCo so special is the level of understanding they have of our club and our fans. Being based in Bergen, they are part of our community, and they truly listen to our needs. This has allowed us to work together to create solutions that benefit both the club and our supporters."

Key Results: Success on and off the Pitch

  1. Record-Breaking Ticket Sales
Brann has achieved record ticket sales in Norway for both their men’s and women’s teams. The men’s team averaged 16,500 spectators per match this season, while the women’s team surpassed their ambitious target of 2,500, averaging 3,100 fans per game. Both teams play their matches at Brann Stadion, creating a unified home for the club and its supporters.
  2. Mobilisation Games for the Women’s Team
A key driver of the women’s team’s success has been the introduction of "mobilisation games," where the club sets ambitious attendance goals and works tirelessly to fill the stadium.
"We’ve identified three key matches each season as mobilisation games," explains Rygg. "These are games where we go all-in to create a record-breaking atmosphere. By starting our campaigns early and engaging with the community, we’ve been able to attract new fans and create unforgettable experiences. This strategy has been a huge success, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of."
  3. International Success
Brann has cemented its reputation as a club capable of competing on the European stage. The women’s team reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2023/24 season, delivering strong performances against clubs such as St. Pölten, Slavia Praha and Lyon before losing to Barcelona. This season they did beat Inter Milan and Braga before losing to Manchester United in the same tournament. Meanwhile, the men’s team has made headlines this season with an impressive 3-0 home victory against Rangers and an equally strong 0-0 draw away against Bologna in the UEFA Europa League. These achievements highlight Brann’s ability to excel internationally and bring pride to their fans and community.
  4. A New Season Ticket Renewal Process
TicketCo has recently developed a new, more flexible season ticket renewal process that empowers fans to make changes themselves, such as upgrading their tickets. This innovation, already successfully implemented by other partner clubs, is now being introduced at Brann. The new process is designed to save time for both the club and its supporters, allowing Brann’s team to focus on other priorities. Testing of the solution at Brann is set to begin shortly, marking an exciting step forward in enhancing the fan experience.

Kristianna Moberg, Head of Customer Success at TicketCo, explains: "This new solution has already proven its value with other partner clubs, and we’re excited to see it implemented at Brann. It gives supporters more flexibility and control over their season tickets while freeing up valuable time for the club’s team to focus on other areas."
  1. Data-Driven Marketing and Fan Engagement
TicketCo’s platform provides real-time data and insights, enabling Brann to tailor their marketing efforts and engage with their fans more effectively. This has been particularly valuable for promoting mobilisation games and other key initiatives.

Kristianna Moberg, Head of Customer Success at TicketCo, reflects on the partnership:
"Being based in Bergen alongside Brann has allowed us to build a close and collaborative relationship. We’ve been able to support their ambitions, from filling the stadium for mobilisation games to streamlining season ticket renewals. Brann’s feedback has been instrumental in shaping our solutions, and we’re proud to be part of their journey."
